Let me start off by saying "Welcome". I have not developed this site to be argumentative or to show hostility in any way, but to explain some of the problems and errors I see with the KJV-only position. I hope the friendly attitude the articles were written in comes across as you read them. We are brothers and sisters in Christ! I know many people who are strong KJV-only supporters, and we actually consider each other friends, so I know it's possible to approach this issue with the right attitude... :-)
I don't have all the answers. I have an interest in this issue, and try to research individual aspects of it as best I can. I encourage you to do the same, and not just take someone's word for it that the KJV is the "inerrant, infallible, inspired, and only Bible". Dig for yourself and know why or why not:
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
No doubt you will disagree with my position and my articles. If so, don't just dismiss me as an idiot without showing where my facts are wrong. If you can't show that my facts are wrong, you may need to rethink the KJV-only position. I encourage you to email me or visit this great discussion forum if you want to discuss anything. If you want to write to me because of a disagreement, I hope you will include your reasons for why you think something I have written is wrong. If indeed I have made a mistake, I will be happy to correct it. I'm not really interested in proving that I am right about everything, I'd rather simply convey truth, even when it disagrees with my own preconceptions. I hope you are the same.
These articles are not really an attempt at defending other versions, although that will certainly come into play now and then. One "tactic" I see over and over again in KJV-only books, KJV-only websites, etc., is to tear down other versions. I agree that there are problems with other versions (although I'd probably disagree as to the severity and number), but we must remember: showing problems in other versions does NOT prove the KJV is inerrant. In other words, if the KJV is inerrant, it must stand in its own defense regardless of what other translations have. Showing me I have a banana in my left hand does not prove I have an apple in my right. To examine "inerrancy of the KJV", we must examine the KJV, plain and simple.
Also, I am NOT "attacking" or "bashing" the KJV or the word of God in general, I am opposing a doctrine about the KJV. It surprises me how many KJV-only supporters accuse me of this. Let me explain by way of example: if you oppose a specific doctrine about Mary or Christ himself, does that mean you are attacking them? Of course not, and neither am I attacking the word of God. I am NOT "anti-KJV" - I am "pro-KJV" but "anti-KJV-only".
Lastly, these pages are also not an attempt at tearing down the KJV, but instead showing the KJV for what it really is - a very good translation, not an inerrant, infallible one, and certainly not the exlusive word of God.
